Founder story — Tejas Mehta
UPSTYE is founded by Tejas Mehta, an entrepreneur with 15+ years inside India’s K12 ecosystem — across schools, coaching institutes, student-facing businesses, operations and growth.
A decade and a half of watching capable students get held back not by their ability, but by the tools and systems around them, shaped one conviction: the gap between what a learner can be and what their environment supports is the most consequential gap in Indian education.
UPSTYE is the company built to close that gap.
The India K12 opportunity
India has roughly a quarter of a billion K12 students — the single largest student population on earth.
Three forces are converging at once: NEP 2020 reshaping board expectations, a new generation of high-information parents, and the first wave of AI capable of personalising learning at scale.
This convergence will be played out over the next decade. The decisions made in the next two to three years will shape the infrastructure for the rest of it.
- India has ~1.5 million K12 schools and growing.
- A rising middle class with sharp expectations of academic and skill outcomes.
- A regulatory environment finally aligned with skill-first, depth-first learning.
- AI infrastructure cheap and capable enough to enable mass personalisation for the first time.
The AI learning thesis
We are not betting on AI as a flashy add-on. We are betting on AI as quiet infrastructure — the layer that handles personalised practice, instant feedback and progress visibility so that teachers can focus on the human work of mentorship.
This requires patient product building, not viral apps. Honest claims, not hype. Schools-grade reliability, not consumer-grade novelty.
Vision 2030
By 2030, UPSTYE aims to be foundational infrastructure for personalised, AI-assisted K12 learning across India — and to seed a meaningful global presence in K12 innovation.
This is a decade-scale bet. We are building accordingly: durable products, deep school partnerships, honest communication and a deliberate roadmap.
Where UPSTYE is today
UPSTYE is in active research and product development. We are not making active commercial product sales through this website at this time.
Our current focus: AI notebooks, smart classroom devices, robotics kits, personalised learning workflows, and partner-school pilot programmes. Each is at a different stage of design or prototyping.
