Child Safety & Privacy Principles

Last updated: 11 July 2026

Everything UPSTYE builds is intended for children and the adults around them. Child safety — physical, digital and psychological — is a non-negotiable design constraint, not a compliance checkbox. These principles apply to every product, program and school deployment we undertake.

01Physical safety

For physical products (STEM kits, robotics kits, devices):

  • Products are designed to comply with applicable Indian safety standards for toys and electronics relevant to their category, and safety documentation ships with every product.
  • Electrical components used in children’s kits are low-voltage and enclosed by design.
  • Every product carries clear age guidance; products for younger children avoid small-part and sharp-edge hazards appropriate to the age group.
  • Adult supervision requirements, where applicable, are stated plainly on the product page and in the box.

02Digital safety

For connected and software experiences:

  • No open, unmoderated chat or social features for children.
  • No advertising to children inside learning experiences.
  • No manipulative design — no infinite feeds, streak pressure, loot mechanics or dark patterns aimed at children.
  • Content boundaries and filters default to the most protective setting for the stated age range.

03Children’s privacy

We collect the minimum data necessary for a learning experience to function.

  • We do not sell children’s data. Ever.
  • We do not build advertising or behavioural profiles of children.
  • Wherever technically feasible, we favour on-device processing over cloud transmission of a child’s data.
  • Data practices for each product are disclosed in plain language before setup, and consent flows involve the parent or guardian, consistent with applicable Indian law including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

04Parental visibility and control

Parents should never have to wonder what their child is doing inside an UPSTYE experience.

  • Parents can see what their child is exploring and building.
  • Parents can limit or disable connected features, including AI features.
  • Parents can request access to, correction of, or deletion of their child’s data at any time.

05Schools and institutional deployments

In school programs, we operate within the school’s child-protection framework, sign appropriate data-processing commitments, and train facilitators on safe classroom use of our products. Institutional data is handled per the agreement with each school.

06Our website

This website is intended for adults — parents, educators, school leaders and partners. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through upstye.com.

07Reporting a concern

If you have any safety or privacy concern about an UPSTYE product, experience or communication, contact info@upstyeeducation.com with the subject line “Child Safety”. Such reports are prioritised, investigated by people, and answered.
